Wagyu (Japanese beef) tastes great, but isn’t radioactive contamination a concern? With this app, there’s no more need to worry.
Japanese cattle are each assigned a ten-digit identification number, which functions much like a social security number. Facts such as where the animal was slaughtered and where it was sold are all carefully recorded.

With this app, you simply scan in the identification number on the label using the camera on your iPhone, and it will tell you if the beef could be dangerous. (Right now, a special launch discount means that the app is half the regular price!)

When an identification number for beef that has been recalled or whose source is being traced is scanned in, the app gives you a warning. You can then easily check where it was actually produced, whether it is being recalled or traced due to radioactive contamination, and so on. And if you register a source region that you want to avoid, the app can warn you, for example, if the animal from which the beef came was in the area affected by the radiation leaks after the power plant accident on 3/11. You can also confirm with ease the breed, sex and age of the animal, the number of days since it was slaughtered, and so on.
* Identification numbers can only be scanned in automatically using the camera on the iPhone 3GS, 4, or 4S.
* With the iPad, iPad2, and iPod touch, identification numbers can only be entered manually.
* The camera may be unable to read the identification number due to poor printing on the label, the use of unusual fonts, and so on. (It can still be entered manually, however.)
* The newer the model of iPhone, the higher the recognition rate. The iPhone4S is better at reading identification numbers than the iPhone4, which in turn is better than the iPhone3GS.
